Respite Care
-temporary or short term care
The definition of Respite Care is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are, on an informal basis, caring for a friend or relative who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home. It can relieve stress restore energy and promote the necessary balance in your life.
* Respite care can also be offered within a care home setting. Though some people, as mentioned previously, will always prefer to stay in their own homes, others see a week or two in a residential care home as being like a little holiday; an opportunity to meet people of their own age, perhaps with similar interests. In these instances, respite care can be double rewarding- a break from the norm for all concerned. Advinia are equipped and happy to accommodate either scenario.
The reality is that there are times when even the most loving and dedicated of carers need a break. There can be any number of reasons for this; perhaps the carer is themselves unwell or has to be elsewhere, or maybe they are taking a well deserved holiday? This is where Advinia Care can help.
Without respite care services, those cared for at home would often have no option but to enter into a residential facility. For those with Dementia or learning disabilities this can be an extremely stressful and upsetting prospect; as well as for their carers too.
In these situations, Advinia Homecare’s highly trained and experienced carers and support workers can offer our Home Care service on a temporary basis, be it from a couple of hours to cover a shopping trip, right up to a few weeks whilst the primary carer is away on holiday.
Alternatively, Advinia Care Homes set aside rooms to be able to offer residential respite care. Contact your nearest home for details.
There should be no guilt attached to taking time away from a person for whom you care, but sadly there often is. Care giving is a difficult job and very few people are equipped to do it alone.
Advinia Healthcare are here to help alleviate that, usually unfounded, guilt and you can be confident that that person is being looked after by someone who is not only professional, but really does understand and care too.
Depending on the financial situation of the person wanting to access respite care, there may be funding available from several sources. You/they will need to carry out a financial assessment by your local Council. The outcome of this will decide whether you/they can expect to have some or all of the cost covered. There are also various charities who offer assistance with this type of essential funding. Contact your local Council for more information, or call us and we will do our best to help.
Advinia is more than happy to offer respite care to those receiving financial support as well as the self funded.
